SKIING IN JAPAN

SKIING IN JAPAN - MY EXPERIENCE

The best place in Asia to skiing in Asia is probably in Japan. We have already experienced skiing in Japan two times: this last Christmas and 2 years ago. I, Stephanie, would like to share my experience with you and perhaps you will go next year in Japan to skiing.

We went this year to Nozawa Onsen on the island of Honshu. This ski station is not very far from Nagano, in the Japanese Alpes. This is a small ski station, very typical, traditional with a lot of onsens (Japanese hot spring), more than 13 public onsens!

We did a trip during 10 days including Nozawa Onsen.

Skiing in Japan - Days 1 and 2: Arrival at Osaka Kansai Airport with VietJet Air at 8.30am

We rented a car with Rentalcars at the airport, direction Takayama in the Japanese Alpes. Takayama is an amazing small city, very typical, with old streets, temples and more. Don’t forget to do the Hygashyama walking course, under the snow, it is amazing. And don’t forget neither to test Hida beef, in competition with the Kobe Beef!

Skiing in Japan - Day 3: Shirakawa go

Shirakawa is a beautiful, small and traditional village classified by UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

Skiing in Japan - Days 4, 5, 6, 7, 8: Nozawa Onsen

Nozawa Onsen is a real snow paradise! It is one of Japanʼs most superb and expensive winter sports areas.
Extending from the top to the foot of Mt. Kenashi (1,650m), Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort boasts an altitude differential of 1,085 meters and a total ski slope area of 297 hectares. Indeed, the resort ranks among the very top in Japan in terms of size, its history and snow quality.
The abundance of 100% natural, high-quality powder snow allows you to enjoy skiing well into early May.

I recommend you to rent an apartment at Address Nozawa, colorfull apartments in a nice residence, with a private onsen. Please contact: lena.leong@gfiatravel.com . She is  in charge of the resort and very helpful.

Skiing in Japan - Day 9

It is unfortunately time to go back home.

We stopped by Matsumoto and its fabulous castle.

There was a market in the street with a lot of antiques. I bought a stamp.

Skiing in Japan - Day 10

One full day in Osaka, of course it is not enough to visit this huge city, but we saw the Umeda Sky Building (one of the most beautiful buildings of the world), the castle of Osaka, and we finally had some time to go shopping and to visit the famous Dotombori district!

Bye bye Japan! Hope to see you soon!
